Kitchen Garden and Environmental Science
In this program students learn to build and maintain a garden, and to grow and harvest a range of vegetables, fruits and herbs. The development and care of the garden teaches students about our natural world.
In the kitchen students prepare simple dishes using the produce from the garden. This allows them to broaden their experiences with a variety of healthy foods and cooking processes.
Students extend their skills from different learning areas such as Science, English and Maths during cooking and gardening sessions.
This program encourages students to engage in hands-on inquiry based learning which results in high levels of engagement and an increased awareness of where and how our food is made.
